John Lane the Bodley Head Limited, 1927. First illustrated (Frank C. Pape) edition, published in the same year as the true first (non-illustrated) edition. An entertaining, comical novel about mythical figures.
Book: Very good. Dust jacket: None. Gilt decoration and lettering to front cover and spine, remains largely bright and crisp. Boards somewhat curved and with wrinkling to cloth wraps near spine. Shelf wear around the edges including rubbing and slight fraying at corners and spine ends, which are softened. Two small marks near two titles on bibliography page and previous owner's inscription on reverse side of front endpaper and first page, otherwise all pages are clean and unmarked. Some instances of split binding several of which were apparently cloth-repaired in several gutters of pages throughout the book.
