Charles Scribner's Sons, 1886. First edition, early state with 16 pages of ads at the rear (not 14) and no DeVinne Press imprint. Illustrations from drawings by Reginald B. Birch, which established trends in fashion at the time.
Good. Pages are unmarked except for inscription on front endpaper. Foxing on prelims. Binding is cracked but all pages are still attached. Spine has a slight lean. Board colors, including gilt on spine and front board, are still bright. Otherwise boards have typical rubbing, dents and scratches for their age. Corners of boards and spine ends are bumped with some cracks on spine ends, as well.
