The Roycrofters, 1909. Book designed by Dard Hunter, one of the most influential graphic artists of the 20th century. First edition, of the only Roycrofters work that features Dard Hunter's name on the colophon.
Very good. Half bound in suede over green paper boards, gilt-lettered spine, top edge gilt, deckled bottom edge and fore-edge. Frontisportrait and photogravure portrait plates with tissue guard (two out of the original right are missing). Text printed in two columns, printed in red and black with green borders. Initials, ornaments and title-page especially designed for this book by Dard Hunter. Typography by Charles Rosen. Remarkably well-preserved with minor chipping/scuffing to suede at corners and light sunning to spine. Small area of scuffing and discoloration on front board.
