The Century Company, 1897. Early (not numbered) printing of this, the first edition, first published in 1895 with two variant bindings. Illustrated by John Lockwood Kipling.
Book: Acceptable. Dust jacket: None. Heavy wear around the edges of covers including bumped/frayed corners and spine ends. Apparent liquid stain to bottom 1/3 of spine wrap and along bottom edge of rear board. Previous owners' inscriptions on front endpaper. Hinges cracked and half title page completely separated from binding. Very loose binding and several instances of split binding throughout book. Tanning pages with some blemishes around the edges from handling. Smells faintly of smoke.
