Grosset & Dunlap, 1932. First edition and the novelization of the 1933 RKO film. Housed in a new facsimile dust jacket.

Every once in a while, you run across a book that transcends the medium, something that becomes so ingrained in pop-culture and society that it is something else entirely.

The first in a long line of Kaiju, King Kong started the ‘giant monster wreaking havoc on a city’ trope. Where would the film industry be today without the constant remakes and reimagining of King Kong and those that came after. Would Tokyo ever see the creation of their mighty savior Godzilla?

Released just two months before the initial films release, King Kong set the stage for a new world; one ruled by the strongest and biggest fighter of all time. The first edition is incredibly scarce and coveted, but here’s your chance to snag one for the nice price 😎

Fair. Bound in publisher's green cloth lettered in dark brown with black topstain; lacking the rare original dust jacket. Boards and spine are heavily worn and grubby. This book has seen some love. All pages are clean and unmarked aside from three "Books Inc Rental Library" stamps on front endpaper and page one. Photoplay endpapers with a large area of scuffing on front endpaper. Binding becoming very loose with both hinges cracked and front hinge crudely repaired with tape between the first three pages. Page 7/8 has completely separated from binding, but is still included. The rest of the text block is firm. Heavy edge wear and fraying to boards and spine, sunning to spine and back joint cracked and peeling but still firmly attached. A readable copy.
